Marcus Brown returns to Zalgiris 0

Zalgiris Kaunas announced late Thursday that Marcus Brown, the Euroleague’s career leader in scoring, will return to the club for the coming season. Brown (191, 35) arrives from Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv, where he averaged 12.3 points in 16 Euroleague games last season. He tops the competition’s career scoring charts with 2,508 points – more than 300 points ahead of the next closest player – in 156 games for a 16.1 points per game average. Brown is also the leader in career fouls drawn (807) and ranks among the career leaders in assists (7th, 425), steals (10th, 175) and three-pointers made (4th, 288). He spent the 2007-08 season with Zalgiris, averaging 14.5 points on 41.8% three-point shooting. Brown was chosen as the Euroleague December MVP that season after recording 24.6 points on 15-for-19 three-pointers in that month. He helped Zalgiris to win the Lithuanian Cup, the Baltic League and the Lithuanian League titles as well. Brown was named to the 2003-04 All-Euroleague First Team and was named to the second team on two other occasions during his impressive career. Brown has also won national titles in France with Pau-Orthez and Limoges, in Turkey with Efes Pilsen, in Russia with CSKA, in Spain with Unicaja and in Israel with Maccabi. Among other career highlights include lifting the 1999 Korac Cup with Limoges and playing in three Euroleague Final Fours.

“The new management of BC Zalgiris has a vision of a young motivated team in the next few seasons, but our young guys need to learn from the best,” head coach Gintaras Krapikas said. “Bringing Marcus back will help us in all fields: On the court and in practice. His experience is tremendous.”
