Zalgiris re-signs Dainius Salenga 0

Lithuanian powerhouse Zalgiris Kaunas made its first big move of the offseason by re-signing veteran forward Dainius Salenga for another season. This coming season will be the eighth in a Zalgiris uniform for Salenga (197, 32), who first donned the club’s colors in 2001. He averaged 11.4 points in 10 Euroleague games for Zalgiris last season and has appeared in 91 Euroleague games for the club throughout his career. Salenga started his career at Farmeka Vilnius and also played for Sakalai Vilnius before joining Zalgiris. He later spent two seasons in Spain with Akasvayu Girona, winning the 2007 FIBA EuroCup along the way. Among his other career highlights are winning the Lithuanian championship five times and the Baltic League twice with Zalgiris. Salenga also won the 2003 European championship and played at the 2004 Olympic Games with the Lithuanian national team.

"I’m happy to stay in Zalgiris," Salenga said. "Since the new owner took over the team in May, the situation in Zalgiris is getting better every day and I am excited to continue my career in this legendary club."
