Marcus Brown found himself on fire in the last quarter as Zalgiris edged CSKA 67:63 in the Kaunas Sports Hall in a VTB United League game.

Zalgiris opened the game surprisingly well with five unanswered points. Despite a solid start for the hosts, CSKA easily closed down the deficit and had established a small lead themselves. Neither team had a safe advantage, as the difference between the clubs never reached more than five.

Planinic increased CSKA’s lead to four at 56:52 in the 34 minute of the game, but then Brown caught fire. The American made three straight triples to give Zalgiris an edge with the score 61:58.

CSKA’s John Robert Holden made a three-pointer, that he could barely repeat if asked to tie the game at 61:61. However, Brown, former CSKA player, was the last to have his word, scoring six points and hustling for rebounds on the offensive board. As it turned out Brown’s points were decisive, as no team managed to score from the moment on.

Brown had an amazing performance with 26 on the night and 15 in the last quarter alone. The guard hit 6 of 10 from beyond the arch, adding 7 rebounds as well. Martynas Pocius scored 10, as Mantas Kalnieties added 7 for Zalgiris.

Zoran Planinic collected 26 points as well, driving to the lane at will, with no proper defense from the hosts what-so-ever. Viktor Khryapa had 10, while Ramunas Siskauskas netted 9 points.
