Butkevicius’ season-high sees Zalgiris cruise past Nevezis 0
Povilas Butkevicius had a season-best performance for Zalgiris as his team took a Lithuanian League (LKL) victory, smashing the visiting Nevezis 98:66 (21:15, 22:18, 24:19, 29:14) in Kaunas on Monday.
Butkevicius finished the game with 15 points and 13 rebounds and recorded his best game in the season. Adas Juskevicius led the team in scoring with 17 and Martynas Pocius added 16. Mario Delas had 15 points while Aleksandar Capin netted 8 points and dished out 10 assists for Zalgiris.
Egidijus Dimsa carried his wonderful All-Star day performance to the regular season game by scoring 23 points and grabbing 9 boards. Darius Gvezdauskas contributed with 12 points, Paulius Beliavicius scored 11 and Tomas Rakauskas had 10 on the night.
Nevezis had a 33:29 lead in the second quarter, when Butkevicius began his show. He scored 13 points in a 16:0 run for Zalgiris and had eleven in a row at one point to give the home team a 45:33 halftime advantage.
The third quarter was owned by another Zalgiris’ power forward. Making 3 triples Tadas Klimavicius scored 11 points in a row of his own as Aleksandar Capin and Martynas Pocius added a couple points each to see the distance between the teams grow to 20 points – 67:44.
