Zalgiris has no problems with VEF 0
Zalgiris registered its second win in VTB United league, as it won against VEF Riga 84:71 on Sunday evening in Kaunas.
The hosts, playing without injured Martynas Pocius, were in front for the most part of the game. After Mantas Kalnietis’ dunk with a foul the lead got into double digits (29:18) and Zalgiris never looked back.
“We are not as talented as Zalgiris’ players. You cannot overtake Formula 1 when you are driving Ziguli”, Riga team coach Rimas Kurtinaitis joked after the game.
Scary moment for Zalgiris came in the first quarter, when Paulius Jankunas suffered an ankle injury. On the sidelines he joined Pocius, who is nursing shoulder injury.
It is still unknown, whether both would play in Euroleague game against Asseco Prokom on Wednesday.
Arturas Milaknis led the winners with 14 points, while Mantas Kalnietis and DeJuan Collins added 9 apiece.
Kristaps Janicenoks and Artiom Parakhouski had 14 points each.
