Zalgiris advances to the BBL Final Four 0

Zalgiris needed to step their game up in the second half of the Baltic Basketball League (BBL) game against Nevezis, but in the end took a fairly confident 78-66 (15-23, 18-17, 22-11, 23-15) victory, which opened the path to the league’s Final Four for the Kaunas side.

The defending Baltic champions, Zalgiris, had won the first leg of the quarterfinal tie 104-70 at home in Kaunas, but Nevezis offered them a more serious battle this time round. After stepping over the Nevezis hurdle, Zalgiris will now face Ventspils in the semifinal.

Marcus Brown and Paulius Jankunas scored 15 points each to lead Zalgiris, Mantas Kalnietis chipped in with 12 points while Travis Watson had 8. The trio of Martynas Pocius, DeJuan Collins and Trent Plaisted finished the game with 6 points each.

Nevezis’ guard Rolandas Alijevas was the most notable player for his team scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and dishing out 5 assists, Egidijus Dimsa had 16 points while Tomas Rakauskas finished with 10.
