The third game of the Lithuanian League (LKL) finals was just as intriguing as the other two, but kept the trend of teams winning at home. Zalgiris managed to take a 70-67 (19-18, 20-9, 17-25, 14-15) victory over Lietuvos Rytas, which had plenty of chances to take the win themselves.

“Today we once more proved that we’re the strongest team in Lithuania. I am proud of my players, we’re ahead 2-1 in the series and we’re travelling to Vilnius to take a win there,” said Ilias Zouros, the Greek coach of Zalgiris.

DeJuan Collins led Zalgiris with 18 points, Paulius Jankunas scored 17 while Mantas Kalnietis had 12 points for Zalgiris.

“The scenario of the game today was a bit similar to the first game and we lacked a bit of luck in the end. All I can say is that I’m happy that we can recover from a bad stretch of the game and get back into it. It’s a best-of-seven series and we’ll do everything to win back home in Vilnius,” Lietuvos Rytas’ head coach Darius Maskoliunas said after the game.

Lietuvos Rytas was led by Martynas Gecevicius, who had 17 points, Jonas Valanciunas scored 12 points, as Kenan Bajramovic added 8 for the visiting team.
