Anderson and Gudaitis announced the ambassadors of One Team 0
Zalgiris Kaunas continues the Euroleague’s social One Team program in Lithuania. It has already been two years of active participation of Zalgiris, and this year the new ambassadors, James Anderson and Arturas Gudaitis, were chosen.
In this project every Euroleague club works with a specific social group and helps them to integrate into society. For the second consecutive year, Zalgiris is cooperating with Kaunas socialization center which works with the teenagers trying to change their behavior positively, develop their inner values and social skills. This year Kaunas regional probation service joins the project of One Team as well.
New Zalgiris ambassadors have already met with children from Kaunas socialization center when they paid a visit in Zalgiris Arena.
“I am really happy to become an ambassador of One Team. I hope that my experience will be beneficial. I will try to do my best in helping the young generation. I will try to be a role model and help children understand the true values of life. It does not matter what they had to come through in the past, all it matters is that their future is bright”, – said James Anderson.
After the tour and Zalgiris basketball game in Zalgiris Arena, the children invited the ambassadors for a visit to their home in Kaunas socialization center.
“Our club participates in One Team for the second year in a row. I am very happy that together with the Euroleague we are able to make a positive impact on the society. By cooperating with children we will try to uplift their moods and inspire to become good citizens”, – said Arturas Gudaitis.
The core of the cooperation between Zalgiris and Kaunas socialization center is not only to make children happy, but also to develop their personalities through sports and, specifically, basketball. There are activities conducted in their center every week, where Zalgiris administration staff and the fan club members from Green White Boys are present. Different sport games are being played as well as the conversations are held with children on the most relevant topics.
This week One Team project is also going to be present in Zalgiris Arena. Prior to the Euroleague Game of the Week between Zalgiris Kaunas and Anadolu Efes Istanbul there will be a special ceremony held, where Special Olympics, one of the partners of One Team, will be participating.
After the official presentation of the teams, Special Olympics athletes will step on the court and will receive a warm welcome from Paulius Jankunas, the captain of Zalgiris Kaunas. At the same time, all Euroleague players will be wearing jerseys saying “One Team” instead of their last names.
