Zalgiris records a win in Utena 21
The defending champions Zalgiris held on to an 87-80 road victory against Juventus on Sunday, with Kaunas team improving to league-best 3-0 mark.
Brandon Davies registered 17 points and 6 rebounds, as Utena team dropped to a 1-2 record.
Having collected 14 and 13 points respectively, Nate Wolters and Arturas Milaknis were next in line top scorer list for Zalgiris. Aaron White also scored in double figures, collecting 11 points.
Zalgiris won the first two quarters with almost identical scores 24-16 and 25-16 to have 49-32 lead at the halftime.
Juventus got closer during the third period (67-53) and made a run in the last quarter, which saw the margin drop to 77-73 with 4 minutes to go. Zalgiris players managed to hold the game in their hands after timely Milaknis three-pointer and a dunk from Davies.
For Juventus, Arvydas Siksnius went 6-of-7 from three-point range for a game-high 20 points, big man Vaidas Cepukaitis collected 19 points, while Marius Runkauskas had 14 points in his debut for the Utena side.
