Grigonis: “FC Barcelona have definitely looked better than last season” 0

Zalgiris will be facing multiple-time Spanish league and EuroLeague champions Barcelona this Friday, aiming for their fourth overall and first home victory.

Before the seventh round EuroLeague match-up, Marius Grigonis got together with Zalgiris TV and shared his thoughts on the upcoming matchup with the Spanish giants.

“As far as I remember, during my first year is Spain, FC Barcelona were playing well. Throughout the next couple of years, they were in a bit of a hole, a little bit stuck. It finally seems they have begun to find their brand of basketball. While they struggle at times, they definitely look better than last year. The coach, some of the players stayed the same and we’re waiting for a very tough game.”

The Catalonian club has recovered from two early-season losses and have now won four games in a row in the EuroLeague. However, all the wins have come against the bottom-dwellers of the standings. Grigonis said that a run like this can add extra confidence and just boost morale in the team.

“It’s always nice to catch that wave, that rhythm. Once you win, one, two games, you get a little bit more confidence and everything just seems that bit easier. The atmosphere’s better, nobody’s fighting. So yes, of course, winning helps. But they have to lose some day, no matter what.”

Having bruised their way past three opponents in away games, Zalgiris is still searching for their first win in Zalgirio Arena. According to Grigonis, they want to excite their fans with victories every single time.

“Obviously, we’d like to win all our home games. We want to win every single game, no matter the opponent. We put the effort in and just aim for the victory.”
