White: “We just love playing on our home court” 1

With the 11th EuroLeague round right around the corner, Zalgiris is getting ready to take on last season’s EuroLeague quarterfinals opponents Olympiakos. Having hired David Blatt to run the show, the Greek powerhouse currently sits at the top half of the standings with six wins and four losses to their name.

Aaron White got together with Zalgiris TV and shared his thoughts on the strength of the upcoming opponents and the effect the first home victory had on the team.

“It’s one of the top teams in EuroLeague. They’ve got a new coach, a new system, so we’ll have to watch film on them. It’s going to be a little bit different from our playoffs series last year. Other than that, it’s going to be a big game and we’re excited to play another game at home.”

Aaron faces a tough matchup, as he will be going up against EuroLeague veteran Georgios Printezis. The high-flying American admits that his direct opponent is one of the top power forwards in the league, and his numbers just prove that. Printezis has averaged 12.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 13.6 efficiency per game  throughout the start of the season.

„He’s one of the best four-men in the league. It will be difficult trying to guard him with different looks. He’s got a lot of fakes on the post and he’s just a great player. We must be ready for him and give him our full attention.”

The athlete had a smile on his face speaking of last week’s win against AX Armani. He admitted that despite the extended losing streak at home, fan support has always been a huge advantage for Zalgiris.

“The fans were huge, as always. One of our best advantages for us is to play at home. We’ve had great support all year and we look forward to that for the rest of the season. We just love playing on our home court and in front of our fans.”
