#TimeOutZalgiris catches the win over Olympiacos 1

With the support of a packed arena, Zalgiris managed to make it two in a row in the EuroLeague on Thursday evening, defeating the Greek giant from Piraeus, Olympiacos.

#TimeOutZalgiris host Dalia Belickaite traditionally popped up in every corner of the arena, and had a chat with guests, former Zalgiris players and Latvian basketball fans. Belickaite first met up with Lithuanian Youtube star Paul de Miko (Paulius Mikolaitis) who was having his first Zalgiris experience in Kaunas.

“The first impressions are really good! I’ve got possibly the best seats in the house and the atmosphere is unbelievable. I’ve been to an NBA game once, but the game wasn’t that important, so this is totally incomparable. A couple times it was really uncomfortably loud. My ears were ringing!”

Belickaite’s next target was former Zalgiris man Axel Toupane, who sidelined due to an injury and missed the action on the court. He shared his experience returning to Kaunas.

“I talk to Leo Westermann quite often. We also have a group chat with the other guys, so we stay in touch. I really miss the arena, the national anthem before the game. I used to love it! Of course, I miss the people in general, too.”

There were quite a few fans in the stands rocking Latvian basketball jerseys, who were drawn by the chance of seeing their countrymen Janis Stelnieks and Janis Timma play.

“We’re supporting great basketball. This is the most wonderful atmosphere I’ve ever experienced. It’s absolutely beautiful. We’re supporting Zalgiris and the Latvian players in Olympiacos.”
