Hornets forward Marvin Williams: “I want Deon and Zalgiris to do well” 0

Among the several hundred Zalgiris supporters in Istanbul, one man stood out more than the others, as the 2nd overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft Marvin Williams travelled to support his best friend Deon Thompson and Zalgiris. He shared his travel and European basketball experiences with Zalgiris TV.

“It’s been great. We got some great fans coming out watching a great game against Fenerbahce. I’m excited to be here. This is something that we’ve been doing for years. Deon and I are like family, we’re very close. Whenever my season is over, I always try to come and visit him wherever he’s at in the world and this is where he’s at right now. I’m excited for him.”

Williams already got the chance to see Lithuania, too. He got the chance to see Zalgiris play on the domestic stage in one of the team’s Betsafe-LKL games.

“I loved it. The food was really great, the people are very nice. I had the chance to see Zalgirio Arena which was great. I really enjoyed it there.”

Deon was rooting for his best friend to play well and hoping he helped the team win.

“He’s ready to go. I wished him luck and obviously, he knows I support him, I love him. I just want him to do well, and his team to do well.”

The NBA player admitted to watching a lot of EuroLeague basketball and that he enjoys the atmosphere the fans create.

“It’s great, the fans are really excited, I got a chance to watch a lot of EuroLeague games on the internet and sometimes you can feel the energy through the internet. It’s really fun to watch the games when the crowd is always into it. I’m excited to be a part of it.”
