Zalgirio Arena was voted the toughest arena to play at by EuroLeague players 0

Eurohoops conducted the first ever EuroLeague players poll, as 67 players answered eight questions regarding this past season.

Zalgirio Arena was voted the toughest arena to play at, with 40% of the votes. OAKA in Athens and Ulker Sports Arena in Istanbul were tied for the second spot.

Overall, 67 players and ten teams participated (Maccabi Tel Aviv, AX Armani Milan, Zalgiris Kaunas, FC Barcelona, Herbalife Gran Canaria, Bayern Munich, Fenerbahce Istanbul, Anadolu Efes, CSKA Moscow, Panathinaikos Athens).

Jan Vesely with 18 votes came in the first place of season MVP voting, with Nick Calathes finishing second with 13.

After winning the official rising star award by EuroLeague, Goga Bitadze received 47 of the total 67 votes (70%) and won the first place in the players poll as well. Yovel Zoosman of Maccabi and Georgios Papagiannis of Panathinaikos finished in the Top-3.

Cory Higgins, Kostas Sloukas and Mike James have proved this season why they are considered clutch in crunch time. Their fellow EuroLeague players recognized that they can come up big down the stretch and voted for these three as the most clutch players. Higgins received 15 votes and the first place, while Sloukas and James were tied in the second spot with 11 votes respectively.

Jaycee Carroll is one of the deadliest shooters in Europe. After making important three-pointers this season for Real Madrid, he was voted EuroLeague’s best shooter in the first ever EuroLeague players poll. He received 42% of the votes. Cory Higgins with eight votes came in second, while sharpshooter, Kyle Kuric came in third.

In his first year in EuroLeague, Derrick Williams showcased his extreme athleticism, and dunking ability. The Bayern star was featured in many Top-10’s this season, with his flashy dunks. He was voted best dunker in the competition. Behind Williams, came Will Clyburn with 10 votes. Jan Vesely’s poster dunks handed him the third place, with eight votes.

Adrien Moerman was in the running for the MVP award as well in the players’ survey, but he won the most underrated player with 11 votes in a tight race. Facundo Campazzo with nine votes came in second. 20 different players were voted in the most underrated player list including Brandon Davies, Leo Westermann and Edgaras Ulanovas.

Walter Tavares may have won the official award for the best defender of the 2018-2019 season, but the 67 players who took part in Eurohoops’ survey, voted Bryant Dunston as the toughest defender. Anadolu Efes’ big man received 15 votes, while Facundo Campazzo (9) and Kyle Hines (8) battled it out for the second spot.
