#TimeOutZalgiris. Zalgiris scoops up majority of Betsafe-LKL awards 0

Zalgiris enjoyed a great deal of recognition even after the Betsafe-LKL Finals victory. On Tuesday evening five Zalgiris names were called upon stage for six awards, as Sarunas Jasikevicius, Edgaras Ulanovas, Marius Grigonis, Brandon Davies and Thomas Walkup earned individual awards in the Betsafe-LKL season closing ceremony.

Jasikevicius was named Coach of the Year, Thomas Walkup earned Defensive Player of the Year honors, Edgaras Ulanovas took Finals MVP honors and also ended up being named to the All-LKL first team alongside Brandon Davies and Marius Grigonis.

Dalia Belickaite was also roaming around the closing ceremony and made sure to close out the #TimeOutZalgiris season in a spirited fashion.

While Coach of the Year Jasikevicius didn’t too much importance on this achievement, he was sure that it’s always better to win.

“It’s always more fun to win than to lose. It doesn’t mean too much, but it’s fun. It really comes down to team results. When you’ve got guys like I have, everything’s so much easier.”

Once the season is over, besides golf, Jasikevicius is looking forward to taking up his favorite off-season sport.

“Lying on the beach and doing nothing will be my favorite sport in the summer.”

Edgaras Ulanovas earned his second Finals MVP award this year and shared his thoughts on his summer regime and the upcoming wedding season, including Arturas Milaknis’ celebration.

“I don’t have too many plans. Those few days have passed and it’s kind of weird that there’s nothing to do. I’m starting to want to move a little bit, go running or something like that. Or perhaps try out some other sports with my friends. Arturas’ wedding also awaits. We’ll have to celebrate that. And then in July I’ll start bringing basketball back in.”

Zalgiris guard Thomas Walkup was surprised yet delighted that his efforts on the defensive end were recognized with the Defensive Player of the Year award.

“I’m feeling good. For the defensive side, it’s not always noticed. So to be rewarded for all the hard work is always nice.”

The only thing he really missed in Lithuania was the sun and Walkup’s plan is to be back in Lithuania with a nice tan next season.

“I’ll do a little bit of traveling, try and get out in the son a little bit. I haven’t had much sun living in Lithuania for the last 10 months. Get out in the sun a little bit and try to come back tan.”
