Zalgiris makes the way to Tallinn 2

Zalgiris’ intense preparation for the upcoming season has taken them to Estonia, where they look to play a friendly game in Tallinn. Afterwards, the team will head on to a week-long training camp in Turkey.

On Sunday, the green-and-whites will try their hand with Estonia’s top team, Kalev/Cramo, as the two sides are set to tip-off at 17:00 after two practices in the capital.

The following day, Sarunas Jasikevicius’ men will fly straight to Antalya, and continue their preparation for the season by participating in the Gloria Cup friendly tournament.

Zalgiris has taken 13 players aboard, with several young players filling out the roster. Arturas Milaknis, Thomas Walkup and newcomers Zach LeDay, Nigel Hayes and Alex Perez, will be joined by Martinas Gebenas and young Zalgiris players Rokas Jokubaitis, Lukas Uleckas, Erikas Venskus, Matas Jogela, Karolis Lukosiunas, Vitalijus Kozys and Kerr Kriisa.

Laurynas Birutis will also be traveling with the team, as he continues his rehabilitation.

Zalgiris has already played two friendly games so far, defeating Lietkabelis Panevezys (75-72) and Khimki Moscow region (85-71).

After the team’s second game, Coach Sarunas Jasikevicius highlighted the upcoming plans of the team:

“At this moment, it’s vital to take steps forward, show effort and keep on getting better. It’s important that every player feels in place, gets to score some points. Moving on, we have to improve our play and pay more attention to details.”

The game on the 8th of September in Tallinn will be broadcast LIVE, while the schedule sees Zalgiris face off against Anadolu Efes on the 11th of September, Galatasaray on the 12th, and a third and final game on the 15th of September.

Gloria Cup will also see teams such as EuroLeague champion CSKA Moscow, Tofas Bursa and Teksut Bandirma competing.
