Talented twin brothers join Zalgiris youth system 0

Zalgiris extended its youth system ranks with two twin brother from Panevezys, as Dominykas and Dovydas Butka left an impression in the Zalgiris youth tryouts and will be moving to Kaunas next season.

“Everything was like in a dream. You’d only see Zalgirio Arena on TV, everyone’s clapping, and now you’re here shooting hoops. It’s a special feeling,” – said Dovydas Butka.

The 16-year-olds played in the U17 students basketball league representing Panevezys SC/R.Sargunas SG teams.

The 197 cm tall Dominykas Butka was unstoppable in this league, averaging 27.1 points, 13.7 rebounds and 3.9 assists for an average efficiency of 29.

He was also registered for the Lithuanian Basketball League battles, but never had the chance to make his professional debut. Dominykas also put on the Lithuania jersey in the European U16 championship in Italy.

Dovydas Butka, who stand 2 cm taller than his brother, recorded stats no less impressive, as he put up 21.5 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.8 assists for an average of 21.4 efficiency per game.

“It’s good on the heart that this is happening. You and your efforts get noticed, and you understand that those 10 years of work haven’t gone to waste,” – shared Dominykas

Both players will play in the Zalgiris-3 team in the Regional Basketball League next season.
