#MyStartingFive. Paulius Jankunas’ all-Lithuanian line-up 0

Zalgiris captain Paulius Jankunas joined up with Zalgiris TV for an episode of #MyStartingFive, where he chose a line-up from players he’s played with or against throughout his career.

Unlike Rokas Jokubaitis and Marius Grigonis before him, the big man chose only Lithuanian players for his starting unit.

Jankunas began his starting five by choosing the man in the middle, and had no hesitation picking Lithuanian basketball legend Arvydas Sabonis. The two were teammates in Jankunas’ first season with Zalgiris.

Zalgiris’ captain filled out the frontcourt with two well-known Lithuanian players, as he selected Darius Songaila and Ramunas Siskauskas at Power Forward and Small Forward, respectively.

“Songaila was dangerous both near and far from the basket. He could break down any defense near the hoop, but he could also make a three. At the Small Forward, I’d probably take Ramunas Siskauskas. He was a unique player, and we’d have someone to look for in final moments.”

The only player who is still currently playing that made it to Jankunas’ starting five is his buddy and teammate Arturas Milaknis.

Finally, he chose a former teammate and Zalgiris coach to take care of his playmaking.

“For my Point Guard, it isn’t difficult, I’ll take Sarunas Jasikevicius. With 4 guys like that in the starting five, someone needs to make sure it’s under control.”
