Zalgiris 3×3 tournament excites in Nemunas Island 0

Street basketball fans once again brought the excitement to Zalgirio Arena after a three-year break. The Zalgiris Kaunas 3×3 tournament was full of spectacular basketball duels, fun games with Zalgiris players and simply great vibes.

The twelfth Zalgiris 3×3 tournament was opened by Kazys Maksvytis, the head coach of Žalgiris, who later watched a few of the tournament matches himself.

“I have played in similar tournaments, so it’s great that Zalgiris organises such events. Who would I choose from the Zalgiris players for my 3×3 team? Probably Tyler Cavanaugh, Edgaras Ulanovas, Tai Webster and Arturas Milaknis,” said Maksvytis.

As the battles in the nine groups got underway, Zalgiris players also made their visit, not only signing autographs and taking selfies, but also taking part in unusual games.

In the Three-point Challenge Challenge, young male and female basketball players paired up with Zalgiris players and took part in a shoot-out. In the first tournament final, the duo including Paulius Jankunas defeated the team of Mantas Kalnietis after a very tough battle, while in the second one Tyler Cavanaugh, who paired up with Samanta, a student of Zalgiris Basketball Academy, defeated Tai Webster’s team. Interestingly, the teams of recognised snipers Artūras Milaknis and Karolis Lukosiunas did not qualify for the finals.

The first winners were announced in the wheelchair group sponsored by KPMG, an international audit, tax and business consultancy company, where the Kaunas RSC team defeated Vilnius Atrama players.
