Zalgiris players make their jersey number selections 0

As they await the start of the new season, Zalgiris Kaunas players have made their selections on which number will adorn their jerseys in the upcoming year.

Zalgiris rookie Keenan Evans will be the first to take the court during the team presentation. When he started his professional career in Europe, he always chose the number 2, which will also appear on his green and white jersey.

He will be followed by rookie Dovydas Giedraitis, who chose the number 3 jersey. In recent years, he had worn the number 33 jersey, but Tomas Dimsa, who has played for Zalgiris before, had priority to this number.

A number of newcomers cautiously considered about the possibility of getting the number 13, but out of respect for long-time captain Paulius Jankunas, who has just retired, the number remains vacant. Kevarrius Hayes will therefore have the number 8 on his jersey instead of the number that has accompanied him throughout his career.

Rolandas Smits (No. 10), Ignas Brazdeikis (No. 17) and Arnas Butkevicius (No. 51), who joined Zalgiris in the last few months, found their beloved numbers free.

Two Zalgiris big men, Laurynas Birutis and Motiejus Krivas, chose adjacent numbers – 15 and 14. Another young green-and-white, Liutauras Lelevicius, will don the number 45 jersey.

The old-timers didn’t have to turn their heads, as they remained faithful to their numbers from last year. Lukas Lekavicius will continue wearing number 4, Mantas Kalnietis stays loyal to number 9, Karolis Lukosiunas – number 16, Tyler Cavanaugh – 34, while Edgaras Ulanovas sticks to number 92.
