Big win by Zalgiris in another friendly game 0

Zalgiris Kaunas continued its busy preseason schedule on Thursday with a 86:66 victory over Ukrainian side Dnepro Dnepropetrovsk in Klaipeda, Lithuania. The game was the club’s second in as many days and fourth so far of the preseason.

Zalgiris is 3-1 in those games – with all three victories coming at the expense of teams from Ukraine. Head coach Gintaras Krapikas again mixed up the minutes among his squad and surely was satisfied with the results.

Veteran Dainius Salenga was hot early as Zalgiris built a small lead, but it was rookie Martynas Pocius who heated up in the second quarter, leading Zalgiris to a 46:35 halftime lead. The trio of Adas Juskevicius, Tadas Klimavicius and Salenga played key roles as Zalgiris put the game away in the third quarter, taking a 71:52 advantage.

Salenga finished with 14, while Pocius, Juskevicius and Travis Watson netted 11 each and Zygimantas Janavicius added 10. Watson also grabbed 8 rebounds for the winners.

In other Zalgiris news, Euroleague career scoring leader Marcus Brown arrived in Lithuania on Thursday and will join the team’s practices. Brown is back in Zalgiris after spending last season at Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv.
