After one of the biggest losses in Zalgiris Euroleague history, coach Gintaras Krapikas announced he is stepping down from his post. His assistant Darius Maskoliunas was named interim coach.

Krapikas, former Zalgiris player in the 90’s, became the head coach in the October of 2008. He stayed with the team during its financial crisis last season but failed to achieve good results this season.

“I take full responsibility for the bad results. Zalgiris still have chances to qualify to Top 16, so I hope that the new coach will help them to achieve it. This holiday break should help the team to rise up to new challenges”, Krapikas said in a statement, issued by team.
