Janis Strelnieks after visiting animal shelter: “It warms your heart” 2

Zalgiris Kaunas continues its partnership with Kaunas animal shelter Nojus, as the team’s shooting guard Janis Strelnieks made a visit to spend some time with the animals.

Zalgiris’ friendship with the Nojus shelter started last year, and invited fans to adopt an animal from the shelter.

“Our family always had a dog. It wasn’t specific breed from the beginning, just a random mix. I grew up with them, we had two or three dogs. I love dogs, my family loves dogs. It’s always about dogs with us”, – Strelnieks told.

Janis did not come empty handed, as he brought food supplies for the animals. He shared that he would visit animal shelters back in Riga, too.

“We would go to shelters back in Riga. We’d bring food, blankets, whatever they need. We’d go for walks with the dogs. It makes you feel happier and better. You don’t go to the breeder, choose a specific dog. These animals were abandoned, or didn’t have good families. This warms your heart even more.”

In the latest video on Zalgiris TV, you can see more from Strelnieks’ visit to the Nojus shelter and find out more about some of the pets that are eagerly waiting for a visit.
