Thomas Walkup: “I was dying to hit Milaknis again” 6

With a postponement in Olympiacos’ EuroLeague game in Kaunas, former Zalgiris man Thomas Walkup missed out on a return to Lithuania, a place where he spent three great seasons with the green-and-whites.

Not being able to be there in person, Walkup connected and sat down with Zalgiris Insider host Rytis Kazlauskas to talk about his first season in Greece.

“I have so many people that I miss there. I was dying to hit Milaknis again. I used to beat him up in practice so much, and I wanted to do it again. I was super excited about this trip.”

This season Walkup is averaging 6.0 points, 3.1 rebounds and 8.4 efficiency in 21 minutes of action, starting all of the team’s EuroLeague games so far this season.

“As a player, all you can ask for is consistency. I think this is one thing I’ve grown to like. This is my first time where I play in a system like that, where I usually play in the first and third quarter. Sloukas is playing in the second and fourth. It’s nice to have consistency – that gives you a clear mind to go out and play as hard as you can. I’ve really grown to like that.”
