Zalgiris Kaunas held an annual press conference where the club’s president, Paulius Jankunas, presented the financial details of the previous season and announced the budget for the upcoming one.
First of all, the former EuroLeague great noted that the yearly revenue was significantly higher, as the organization projected to collect €13 million but gathered €15 instead. The rise was mostly caused by the higher-than-expected ticket sales (€6.9 million).
The expenses were higher last year than projected as well, mainly because of a notable rise in administrative costs.
Jankunas then immediately presented the budget for the upcoming season.
Zalgiris projects to collect €16.4 million in revenue, with €7.5 coming from ticket sales. Expenses are projected at €17.7 million, with the vast majority - €11.7 million - going to player and staff salaries.
It marks a 22.6% increase in spending from last year. The €1.3 million income from last year will cover the difference between the revenue and expenses in the 2024-25 season.
362,000 people attended Zalgiris games last season, while 16 of 17 EuroLeague home games were sold out.
The club has signed a new shirt sponsor, PUMA. The team’s home, Zalgirio Arena, will have a new floor, a new jumbotron, and a new lighting system.
