Zalgiris Kaunas continues to build its line-up for next season. The Lithuanian champions have signed a one-year contract with center Moses Wright.
The 207 cm tall 26-year-old American is joining Kaunas from Olympiacos Piraeus, with whom he just played in the EuroLeague Final Four and won the Greek league title.
“Moses was a priority signing for us. We lacked physicality in the front line and Wright is a very athletic player, who can protect the paint as well. Moreover, we believe that Wright has not yet shown his full potential. In his last team, his role was very defined, but when he had his chances, his potential was visible and that’s the type of player we were missing in the front line,” said Zalgiris President Paulius Jankunas.
Wright played 18 EuroLeague games in the past season and averaged 5.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 6.3 assists in almost 13 minutes on the court.
“I’m very excited about the opportunity to play for Zalgiris. I have heard a lot of great things about the fans, the organization and the city of Kaunas. Everyone I spoke to said it will be the best place to develop in Europe. You will be able to go there and really show everyone who Moses Wright is. I’m really looking forward to stepping on the court in Kaunas,” said Wright.
Before joining Olympiacos at the end of January 2024, the American played for Merkezefendi Denizli in Turkey, where he averaged 26.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocked shots.
In the EuroLeague 2023-2024, Wright averaged 8.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, 0.7 blocked shots and 10.2 efficiency points in 14 minutes of play for Olympiacos.
