This weekend Lithuanian indoor football champion Zalgiris Kaunas will play the first TOPsport Futsal A League match at home. On 5 October, at 12 noon, Zalgiris will host the guests from Naujoji Akmene - Akmenes krasto footballers at Kaunas Sports Hall.
The two teams have already met before the start of the Futsal A League. In the semi-final of the LFF Futsal Super Cup, Zalgiris defeated Naujoji Akmene 8:1.
This weekend the teams will meet in the 2nd round of the regular season. "Albertas Voskunovicius, a long-time player of Zalgiris Kaunas, said that this year the team of Akmenes krasto is well composed, so the Kaunas team is expecting an interesting duel.
"We have already met our future opponents this year. The team has a lot of legionnaires and we know that the footballers from Naujoji Akmene can offer good individual play. I think we will have an interesting match this weekend," the Zalgiris player shared his thoughts. - We started the season with a confident victory, so we will go out with the same energy and attitude on Saturday - we will fight only for the victory."
The teams have met twice in the 2023/2024 TOPsport Futsal A-League season. The first match ended with the victory of Zalgiris Kaunas with the score 8:1, while in the second meeting, Akmenes krasto had to admit the superiority of Zalgiris again - 5:3.
On 5 October, at Kaunas Sports Hall, Zalgiris will be waiting for the support of their fans. This will be Zalgiris Kaunas' only home game in October, and according to Voskunovicius, the fans' support gives the team extra motivation during the game.
"We are really looking forward to this game, because it will be the first game of the season in Kaunas Sports Hall. It's always fun to play at home, especially when our fans come to the match. We hope that we will have a big crowd of spectators during this match as well, and together we will get another victory," said Voskunovicius.
