Kauno Zalgiris played their final match in June, securing a victory and advancing to the semi-finals of the LFF Cup. Coached by interim head coach Algis Jankauskas, they defeated Vilnius BFA 3–0 (1–0) away in the quarter-final.
Forward Davis Ikaunieks had a great chance to score as early as the 18th minute, but failed to direct the ball into the net in a one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
BFA did find the back of the net, but the goal was disallowed by the match officials for offside.
In the 32nd minute, the Kaunas side produced an excellent counterattack and, after a pass from Motiejus Burba, Leo Ribeiro put Kauno Zalgiris ahead with a fine finish.
Just a few minutes later, the green and whites could have doubled their lead, but Ikaunieks' shot went over the bar.
At the start of the second half, the Lithuanian champions quickly increased their lead. Nosa Edokpolor reacted first to a loose ball in the penalty area to make it 2–0.
In the 70th minute, goalkeeper Deividas Mikelionis was called into action, making a save from a shot heading towards the bottom corner.
In the 78th minute, debutant Haris Kadričius had his chance, but his effort was saved by the goalkeeper.
In the 87th minute, Kadričius won an aerial duel and set up Motiejus Burba in a good position. Burba made no mistake, extending the lead to 3–0.
Kauno Zalgiris will face the winner of the tie between Dziugas Telsiai and FA Siauliai away from home in the LFF Cup semi-finals.
