Zalgiris Kaunas has announced the departure of Sylvain Francisco. The French guard exercised an option in his contract that enabled him to leave for another team through a buyout clause.

The 28-year-old spent two seasons in Kaunas, helping Zalgiris reach the EuroLeague playoffs and win two Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) championships as well as two King Mindaugas Cup titles.

During the latest EuroLeague season, the 185 cm guard averaged 16.5 points, 6.5 assists, and a strong 19.2 efficiency rating per game. He was named to the All-EuroLeague First Team and was also selected as the EuroLeague MVP for October.

Francisco also provided one of the season’s most memorable highlights for Zalgiris fans, delivering the EuroLeague’s best dunk of the year when he threw down a spectacular slam over Tarik Biberovic during Game 3 of the playoff series against Fenerbahce Istanbul.

In the 2024-25 LKL season, the Frenchman was recognized among the league’s top five players. In the championship series, he displayed exceptional form, averaging 22.0 points and a 23.2 efficiency rating. He also hit the game-winning three-pointer that forced a decisive final game and was subsequently named Finals MVP.

Zalgiris Kaunas wishes Sylvain Francisco the best of luck in the next chapter of his career.
