Zalgiris Kaunas has announced another addition to its roster for the upcoming season, signing 31-year-old Sterling Brown, who has spent the past three seasons competing in the EuroLeague.
The 198 cm versatile guard has signed a contract through the end of the 2027-28 season, structured as a 1+1 deal.
Brown spent the last two seasons with Partizan Belgrade. During the 2024-25 EuroLeague campaign, he averaged 13.7 points per game while shooting 39.2 percent from three-point range.
The American began his European career with ALBA Berlin before joining Partizan. Prior to moving overseas, Brown spent six years in the United States, playing for several NBA and NBA G League teams.
Over the course of his NBA career, Brown appeared in 292 games. His strongest season came in 2020-21 with the Houston Rockets, where he averaged 8.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. During his time in the NBA, which also included stints with Milwaukee Bucks, Dallas Mavericks, and Los Angeles Lakers, he averaged 5.3 points per game.
Zalgiris GM Gediminas Navickas shared his thoughts on the club’s newest signing.
“This has been an offseason in which negotiations have certainly not been easy, especially considering Sterling Brown’s contractual situation with Partizan. However, we were very encouraged by the player’s desire and decision to come to Zalgiris. He sees our team as a place where he can continue developing and fulfill his ambitions while being surrounded by a positive environment,” Navickas said.
Brown himself also emphasized his eagerness to arrive in Kaunas.
“I’m extremely excited about this opportunity and feel that a great year lies ahead. A few guys told me about the team and the professionalism throughout the organization, so I heard a lot of positive things, and that helped me make my decision. I’ve seen how this team is progressing and the players it has, so I believe this is a great opportunity. Once I got the call and saw how strongly the club wanted me, I knew it was just a matter of working out the details because I wanted to come here,” Brown said.
A full interview with Gediminas Navickas is already available on the Zalgiris Insider platform, where the sports director discusses Brown’s expected role next season as well as the negotiations with Partizan.
