Zalgiris wins against Siauliai 0

Zalgiris took its eleventh Baltic Basketball League (BBL) victory as they defeated Siauliai 86:77 at home in Kaunas.

Siauliai played without Deivydas Gailius, Mindaugas Kuzminskas, Brandon Brown and Zilvinas Petraitis. Siim Sander Vene and Mirza Begic had 15 each for Zalgiris, Aleksandar Capin added 14 points and 9 assists, but committed 5 turnovers. Tadas Klimavicius finished with 9 and Martynas Pocius scored 7 points.

Derrick Low had a game-high 22 points as Vytautas Sarakauskas ended the game with 18 for Siauliai. Vaidas Pauliukenas collected 11 points and Arvydas Siksnius finished with 9. With only 7 players fit to play Siauliai took a surprising 22:10 lead at the start of the game.

Zalgiris started to regain confidence and the deficit was erased with Aleksandar Capin’s three-pointer, which turned the score to 28:26. The hosts already had a double-digit advantage, leading 44:33 as the half time started. Ramunas Butautas decided to leave Dainius Salenga, Marcus Brown and Mantas Kalnietis on the bench for the second half of the game. But this was not to be worried about as the lead continued growing and reached the 25 point mark in the 32 minute of the game – 72:47.

Siauliai avoided humiliation, using an 18:4 run to bring the difference to a respectable distance.
