Top 16 draw brings Zalgiris new opponents 0
Zalgiris found out its opponents in the Euroleague Top 16. The club from Kaunas will compete with CSKA Moscow, Unicaja Malaga and Asseco Prokom Gdynia in Group G.
Zalgiris’ General Director Paulius Motiejunas was happy with the draw results.
“This is a great draw for us. Not good, but great. We made it to the Top 16 at the very last second and this is the best draw we could get,” Motiejunas told the Euroleague website.
Due to the restrictions in the draw, two of the four groups were already known beforehand. Zalgiris’ group was one of these.
Talking about the team’s chances to make it even further, Motiejunas was optimistic.
“If the team keeps playing the way it did in the last couple of games, everything is possible for us. In a group like this with Unicaja and Prokom, that we know very well, we have a chance to beat them. Of course, playing against CSKA is always special,” – added the General Director.
