Bad stretch ended with a rout win in Liepaja 0

Zalgiris bounced from two defeats in a row with a humiliating victory in the Baltic Basketball League. The club from Kaunas achieved an overwhelming 109:68 win against Lauvas in Liepaja on Sunday.

Arturas Milaknis made 5 of 7 three-pointers setting the pace for Zalgiris with 17, Siim-Sander Vene scored 15 points and Marcus Brown added 14. Adas Juskevicius collected 13 point, as Aleksandar Capin and Sarunas Vasiliauskas were the two remaining players in double-figures netting  12 and 10 respectively.

Lithuanian forward Laimonas Kisielius was the game’s top-scorer with 20, Oleg Kojanets made a contribution of 13 points and 8 rebounds, while Ugis Vilums finished the game with 11 for Lauvas.

Zalgiris took the control of the game into their hands with a 11:2 run that increased the lead from 6 to 15 and made the scoreboard tick to 40:25.

The game didn’t see any other unexpected twists or turns as Zalgiris younger players kept increasing the Lithuanian team’s advantage.

Ramunas Butautas’ squad came into today’s game after suffering two losses in a row. Thursday saw Zalgiris lose to Asseco Prokom Gdynia in the opening Euroleague Top 16 game, while yesterday’s defeat to Ventspils marked a the biggest upset of the season in the BBL.

The Lithuanians played without Dainius Salenga and Travis Watson, as Mantas Kalnietis spent only 11 seconds on the court.
