Brown received most votes in LKL All-Star voting 0

Fans have already voted for the starting lineups of the Lithuanian League (LKL) All-Star game and the results have been announced by the league. The All-Star game will be played between the young “Eagles” and the more experienced players playing for the “Wolves”. Almost 10 thousand basketball fans sent in their opinion of who’s worthy of starting the marquee event of the All-Star day, which will be held in Panevezys this year.

Zalgiris veteran guard Marcus Brown collected the most votes of all players leading from the moment the voting started to finish with 7630 votes. Steponas Babrauskas of Lietuvos Rytas will take the second guard position in the starting five for the Wolves with 2313 votes.

Other positions were dominated by Zalgiris’ players. Dainius Salenga and Travis Watson took the two spots for forwards with 4201 and 5320 votes respectively. Mirza Begic, also from Zalgiris, caught Lietuvos Rytas’ Milko Bjelica at the last moments and passed the Montenegrin in the battle for a starting place of the center with 4390 votes.

The fight for the positions in the younger team, called “Eagles” was much more intense than their future opponents. Only 14 votes separated the first and second players for the youngsters. Jonas Valanciunas (5823) of Lietuvos Rytas passed Siauliai’s talent Mindaugas Kuzminskas (5809), who set the pace for much of the time. Mantas Kalnietis was third in popularity with 5711 votes and his teammate Martynas Pocius finished fourth having collected 4467 votes.

The last spot in the starting five went to the defending LKL dunk champion Arvydas Siksnius with 3559 votes in his account.

Rimas Kurtinaitis won in the coach’s voting as his biggest rival Ramunas Butautas parted ways with Zalgiris. Kurtinaitis will coach the “Wolves” squad with 5490 votes. The second place was taken by Antanas Sireika, who collected 3005 votes and will coach the “Eagles”.
