U18 FC Barcelona produced another dominant display to down U18 Zalgiris Kaunas, 110-80, improving to 2-0 in Group B of the NextGen EuroLeague Finals.
Ignas Stombergas paced Zalgiris with 18 points, Maksim Brnovic added 15, Nojus Mistautas scored 12 and Jokubas Kukta chipped in with 11.
Joaquim Boumtje-Boumtje led the way with 24 points on 5-of-6 three-pointers, Jakob Siftar added 19 points and Sayon Keita dominated the paint with 7 points and 12 rebounds. Abdrahamane Kone piled in with 13 points in 9 minutes, Diego Ferreras scored 12 and Mohamed Dabone added 11.
Zalgiris made the better start behind two scores from Brnovic, but Barca quickly bounced back behind Boumtje-Boumtje and Nikola Kusturica to move ahead. The Spanish team eased clear, 29-17, at the end of the first, and a quartet of threeballs from the unstoppable Boumtje-Boumtje helped extend the gap, 56-35, at the break.
Stombergas tried to bring Zalgiris closer, but Barca kept firing from deep to maintain a mammoth margin, 86-59, after three quarters. Little changed in the final period, and the Spanish side cruised home with the biggest score of the tournament so far.
