After a year and a half of working together, Zalgiris Kaunas and head coach Andrea Trinchieri parted ways. The contract with Trinchieri was terminated by mutual agreement, and the Lithuanian champions will now look for a new head coach.

Trinchieri arrived in Lithuania on the eve of the 2024, after taking over the helm from Kazys Maksvytis.

In his first season with the team, Trinchieri won the King Mindaugas Cup, but lost to Rytas Vilnius in the Betsafe-LKL final series. In the EuroLeague, Zalgiris with Trinchieri had 9 wins and 8 losses and finished 14th in the final standings for the 2023-2024 season.

In the current EuroLeague season, Zalgiris finished in 13th place with 15 wins and 19 losses. The Kaunas team triumphed again in the King Mindaugas Cup and regained the Betsafe-LKL championship after a year’s break.

Along with Trinchieri, assistant Massimiliano Menetti is leaving the club.

Zalgiris Kaunas thanks the coaches for their work together and wishes them the best of luck in the next stages of their career.
