Zalgiris Kaunas has bolstered its guard rotation by signing Maodo Lo, a 32-year-old guard with extensive EuroLeague experience, to a one-year contract.

Lo is a long-time member of the German men’s national basketball team and became a world champion in 2023.

“I am happy to join Zalgiris Kaunas. The club’s rich history and basketball tradition was something I always noticed. Every time I played against Zalgiris, I felt the incredible passion of its fans. I can’t wait to be a part of this amazing atmosphere!”, said Lo in his first message to Zalgiris fans.

Last season, Lo played for Paris Basketball, reaching the EuroLeague playoffs and capturing both the French Championship and the French Cup. In the EuroLeague, he averaged 10 points and 2.1 assists per game.

“We wanted a ballhandler in this position, who could create for himself and get others involved in the game. Lo played in a similar role in Paris, and he did very well. He will be able to play alongside both Sylvain Francisco and Nigel Williams-Goss, as well as lead the team on his own. He is a motivated player who understands his role and is hungry and eager to win titles,” said Zalgiris GM Gediminas Navickas.

Lo has played 249 games in his EuroLeague career. He spent two years each at Brose Bamberg (2016-2018) and Bayern Munich (2018-2020). He then spent three seasons with ALBA Berlin (2020-2023), followed by seasons with EA7 Emporio Armani Milan (2023-2024) and Paris Basketball (2024-2025).
