Zalgiris wins a thriller in Euroleague 0

Tomas Delininkaitis scored a three pointer to tie the game in regulation, then added 4 points in overtime, as Zalgiris Kaunas overcame ups and downs to win a second game in Euroleague.

Kaunas team beat Asseco Prokom Gdynia 74:68 on Wednesday night in Sporto hale.

Zalgiris was leading by 17 points (38:21) at the end of second quarter, when got into a terrible shooting slump. They missed 20 shots in a row, going without a field goal for 16 minutes.

The draught ended in the beginning of fourth quarter, when Paulius Jankunas hit a two pointer.

After a three pointer by Martynas Pocius, who had 18 points, Zalgiris was leading 57:47, but Poles went on a 14:1 run and got in front 61:58 with 28 seconds to play.

After a timeout Delininkaitis hit a quick three to tie the game, then teams traded missed shots and went into overtime.

“I just did what I had to do”, Delininkaitis, who had 16 points, explained. “Coach drew me a play I had to make it. I always believe in my shot”.

Hot-hand Delininkaitis hit another jumper in overtime, added two three throws and Zalgiris never looked back.
