Zalgiris defeats Dzukija at home 5

Defending champions Zalgiris Kaunas handled their business against Dzukija inscribing a 72-60 win over the Alytus side at the Zalgirio arena.

Paulius Jankunas started the game brightly and with 8 points in the opening minutes he gave his team 20-15 lead after the first quarter.

Vasilije Micic took over in the second period with scoring 4 points himself and assisting Brandon Davies for the dunk and Aaron White for the three-point shot. However, the margin remained the same at the halftime – 34-29.

Zalgiris tried to pull away after the break with Kevin Pangos scoring 5 points in a row and Davies having a block party. Paulius Valinskas finished the quarter with off-balance buzzer beating three-pointer to give Kaunas team 50-42 lead.

The fourth quarter was the best in scoring with Axel Toupane and alley-ooping White creating show for the fans with the big dunks. The game ended with the score 72-60 for Zalgiris.

Paulius Jankunas and Antanas Kavaliauskas scored 10 points apiece for the winners, while Paulius Petrilevicius finished the night with a game-high 13 points and 5 rebounds in a losing effort for Dzukija.
