#ZalgirisChallenge. Jankunas and Westermann take on foreign languages with top-class banter 1

With EuroLeague season out of the picture, Zalgiris’ players have had the chance to take up some new activities. In Zalgiris TV’s latest episode of #ZalgirisChallenge, Zalgiris’ long-time captain Paulius Jankunas and French floor general Leo Westermann took on the task of teaching each other their mother tongues.

Their lessons were definitely memorable, but according to Leo, not all of it could be used in practice. After hearing the Lithuanian phrase for “slam dunk”, the Frenchman didn’t shy away with the banter.

“Neither of us can say it, because we haven’t touched the rim this year. We don’t need these words!”

The back and forth continued when Jankunas, already playing his 15th season for Zalgiris, tried teaching Westermann to say “what did I get a foul for?” in Lithuanian.

“Oh, that’s useful for me!” – exclaimed the point guard.

“Of course, you’re always crying on the court” – added Jankunas.

Leo Westermann, who’s represented France in EuroBasket 2015 and 2017 tried teaching Jankunas the phrase “Leo, fait moi une passe”, asking for a pass in French, and Jankunas was sure it would come in handy in the future.

“I need to learn this one, because sometimes in English you don’t understand.”

“I wanted to say great accent and so on, but because of this remark…” – said the Frenchman.

The back and forth banter continues in the latest episode of #ZalgirisChallenge, where one can also witness the players’ other attempts at a foreign language.
