Laurynas Birutis and Dovydas Giedraitis will continue to play for Zalgiris Kaunas. The options in current contracts have been exercised, which will keep Birutis in Kaunas for the upcoming season and Giedraitis until the end of the 2026-2027 season.
However, Giedraitis will miss the first part of the upcoming season. On Tuesday, Zalgiris guard underwent a wrist surgery at Gijos Klinikos, and it will take about 5 months for his rehabilitation.
Giedraitis, who is recognized as a defensive specialist, averaged 5.9 points and 2.5 assists per 21 minutes in the Betsafe-LKL Championship.
In 24 minutes in the EuroLeague, he averaged 5.8 points and 1.9 assists.
Birutis averaged 9.5 points and 5 rebounds per 18 minutes in the Betsafe-LKL Championship. For the third year in a row he was selected to the league’s symbolic five.
