With just over a month to go until the start of the new Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) season, the format and schedule for the championship have been announced.
Tickets for all Zalgiris Kaunas home games at the Zalgirio Arena are now on sale to the public.
The LKL games will start on September 20, when Zalgiris will travel to Jonava, and the first game at Zalgirio Arena will take place on September 24 between Kaunas and Siauliai.
The first clash between last season’s finalists, the Kaunas and Vilnius clubs, will take place on November 2 at Zalgirio Arena.
Nine teams will compete in the 2025-2026 season, which will consist of four rounds in the regular season. This means that each team will play 32 games in the regular season.
The LKL and LNK group have extended their strategic partnership, which began in 2017, so BTV television will broadcast LKL games for the ninth consecutive season starting this fall.
As usual, most LKL games will be broadcast on this channel on Saturdays and Sundays from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The previous LKL season was the most watched to date, with nearly 1.8 million Lithuanian residents watching the broadcasts on BTV.
The regular season is scheduled to end on May 17, and the playoffs are set to begin on May 20, following the usual format: the quarterfinals will be played to two wins, and the semifinals and finals to three wins.
The latest possible end date for the LKL season, if the maximum number of games is required in the playoffs, would be June 19.
