Zalgiris Kaunas secured another victory in front of their fans by defeating Valencia Basket, 86-77.
Moses Wright finished the game with his first double-double of the season, scoring 11 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and recording 19 efficiency points.
“We won because we were physical. We executed our game plan – we managed to slow down their fastbreaks and prevent them from taking so many easy three-pointers, which is why we won,” said the big man.
At the very beginning of the game, Zalgiris players got a couple of blocks, but Wright did not overemphasize it.
“I don't think that set the tone for the game, it happens sometimes, but I think that winning 50/50 balls had the biggest impact. We also grabbed 16 offensive rebounds, which was the most important thing,” Wright said, summarizing the keys to victory.
Wright was also delighted with his first double-double.
“I’ve been close to it several times, so I’m glad I finally managed to achieve it and I hope to get many more double-doubles. We talked about it with Paulius Jankunas, because in more than one game during the first half, I had collected about 5 rebounds, but I ended the game with about 7, so I’m glad I finally did it,” said Wright.
The Zalgiris player also thanked the fans who supported the team by standing up for the entire second half of the fourth quarter.
“I couldn’t even hear my own thoughts, and I don’t know if the guards heard what I was saying during the two-on-two defense,” said Wright, impressed by the noise level.
