Zalgiris Kaunas (11-1) defeated Rytas Vilnius (9-4) 90-81 (23-20, 27-18, 22-19, 18-24) on the road.

Edgaras Ulanovas scored the first 5 points for Zalgiris, followed shortly thereafter by Azuolas Tubelis, 10-4. Sylvain Francisco made a free throw and found Moses Wright twice under the basket for 15-13 lead. Francisco continued to distribute passes, which were converted by Deividas Sirvydis and Arnas Butkevicius, and Sylvain himself ended the first quarter with an accurate three-pointer, 23-20.

The second quarter began with quick baskets by Francisco, Wright and Ulanovas, 29-20. Wright made another shot, Laurynas Birutis and Ignas Brazdeikis added points from free throws, and Nigel Williams-Goss finished the floater, 35-23. Wright scored 5 points in one possession, Brazdeikis broke through the opponents’ defense, 42-29. Francisco and Dustin Sleva hit a three-pointer each, and Sirvydis broke through under the basket, 50-33. After two quarters, Zalgiris led 50-38.

The third quarter opened with a three-pointer from the corner by Tubelis, while Williams-Goss scored 7 points in a row, 59-45. Williams-Goss found Tubelis under the basket and increased the lead to 18 points, 63-45. Sirvydis set up Birutis for a dunk and soon hit a three-pointer, with Francisco and Sirvydis finishing the third quarter with free throw, 72-57.

Sirvydis successfully opened the fourth quarter, Butkevicius connected on a three-pointer, Francisco lobbed the ball for Birutis’ dunk and made a layup himself, 81-62. The hosts scored 7 points in a row, but their enthusiasm was dampened by Ulanovas’s three-pointer, 84-69. The game ended with points from Tubelis, Butkevicius, and Wright, 90-81.

Wright led balanced scoring with 15 points. Francisco had 13 points and 9 assists, Tubelis gathered 12 points and 9 rebounds.
