Zalgiris Kaunas (4-0) had a nearly perfect game in the Lithuanian Basketball League. Tomas Masiulis’s team crushed Juventus Utena (0-3) by 98-68 (32-19, 20-22, 25-18, 21-19).
Maodo Lo and Azuolas Tubelis opened the scoring, with Laurynas Birutis adding 4 points, 8-4. Lo tallied another 6 points, and Sylvain Francisco sank two three-pointers, 20-10. Arnas Butkevicius found Deividas Sirvydis twice beyond the arc, 26-15. Moses Wright and Dustin Sleva closed the first quarter with three-pointers, 32-19.
Ignas Brazdeikis scored four points and Edgaras Ulanovas added five to increase the lead to 20 points, 41-21. Birutis scored twice, and Mantas Rubstavicius became the seventh Zalgiris player to make a three-pointer, 48-27. Birutis scored two free throws, and Kajus Mikalauskas scored his first points in an official game wearing the Zalgiris main team jersey, 52-31.
After three-pointers from Rubstavicius and Brazdeikis, Zalgiris’ long-range shooting accuracy was 12 out of 13 attempts, 60-36. Rubstavicius made a dunk on a fast break, IBrazdeikis, Birutis and DSleva added 2 points each, 68-42. Birutis made free throws, Wright scored from under the basket, Rubstavicius connected on another three-pointer, 77-49.
Birutis scored with a foul, and Ulanovas collected 6 points in just 30 seconds, 86-56. Tubelis scored 4 points, Rubstavicius made free throws, Mikalauskas and Brazdeikis broke through under the basket, and Sleva finished the scoring in the game, 98-68.
Birutis led the attack with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Rubstavicius added 13 points, while Brazdeikis scored 11.
