Zalgiris Kaunas played their second preseason game defeating Lietkabelis Panevezys 87-82 (26-23, 21-18, 21-26, 19-15).
Eighteen-year-old Dominykas Daubaris opened the scoring, while Moses Wright and Edgaras Ulanovas scored 4 points each, 10-7. Kajus Mikalauskas made 3 while Wright was accurate on 2 free throws, and Dustin Sleva scored 8 points in a row, 23-18. At the end of the first quarter, Arnas Butkevicius and Jamel Morris exchanged three-pointers, 26-23.
Dovydas Buika connected on a three-pointer from the corner, Daubaris blocked his opponent’s shots twice, Ulanovas passed to Nedas Raupelis and then scored 7 points in a row himself, 38-29. Buika made a free throw and assisted Wright, 41-34. Ignas Brazdeikis hit a three-pointer, and Raupelis added a two-pointer with a foul, 47-41.
At the start of the third quarter, Buika broke through under the basket, Daubaris rebounded the ball on offense and scored (51-46), but Lietkabelis responded with a 10-point run, 51-56. Wright scored 4 points in one possession, Brazdeikis cut under the basket and received a pass from Sleva, Butkevicius swished a three-pointer from the corner, 60-58. Sleva scored with a foul, Daubaris finished a drive to the basket, and Sleva scored from long range, 68-67.
Butkevicius made passes to Buika for a three-pointer and Wright for a dunk, 73-69. Sleva hit a three-pointer, Ulanovas added a free throw, and Wright dunked on a fast break, 79-76. Mikalauskas made a three-pointer, Brazdeikis scored 2 points, and Daubaris scored with a foul, 87-79. The final score was 87-82.
Sleva led the winners with 17 points. Wright finished with 16 points, while Ulanovas scored 12 points.
