Zalgiris Kaunas (29-1) continued the Lithuanian Basketball League regular season campaign with a narrow road victory. Tomas Masiulis’ team defeated Neptunas Klaipeda (16-15) 93-90 (27-22, 27-28, 28-19, 11-21).
Zalgiris started the game efficiently, scoring on their first five possessions. Moses Wright hit from mid-range, Nigel Williams‑Goss knocked down two three-pointers, Arnas Butkevicius added another, and Azuolas Tubelis converted free throws to make it 13-6. Neptunas responded with a run to briefly take the lead, but Tubelis restored control with four points. Edgaras Ulanovas and Deividas Sirvydis contributed late in the quarter, helping Zalgiris lead 27-22.
At the start of the second quarter, Dustin Sleva and Sylvain Francisco connected from deep, while Ignas Brazdeikis added four points to extend the lead to 37-27. Ulanovas and Francisco continued scoring, with Tubelis contributing inside to keep Zalgiris ahead. Neptunas managed to tie the game at 48-48, but Zalgiris responded with key plays from Williams‑Goss, Maodo Lo, and Laurynas Birutis to take a 54-50 halftime lead.
Zalgiris opened the third quarter strongly with triples from Francisco and Butkevicius, building a double-digit advantage, 62-52. Neptunas again responded with a run, cutting the deficit to just one point. However, Zalgiris regained control through free throws and three-pointers from Lo and Sirvydis. Late baskets by Ulanovas and two three-pointers from Sleva extended the lead to 82-69.
Sleva continued his hot shooting early in the fourth quarter, pushing the lead to 16 points, 85-69. However, Zalgiris then went scoreless from the field for seven minutes, missing free throws and open looks, allowing Neptunas to tie the game at 86-86. Tubelis responded with six consecutive points, while Williams‑Goss added a free throw. Despite Neptunas having chances to force overtime, Zalgiris held on for a 93-90 victory.
Tubelis led the visitors with 16 points. Francisco and Sleva tallied 13 points each.
