Zalgiris Kaunas started the 2025-26 Lithuanian Basketball League season with a victory. Tomas Masiulis'’s team defeated Jonava 87-78 (22-14, 19-11, 21-25, 25-28) on the road.

Jonava scored the first points of the season, but Laurynas Birutis, Ignas Brazdeikis, Dustin Sleva with two-pointers, and Deividas Sirvydis with a three-pointer responded with a 9-2 run. Moses Wright came off the bench and scored 6 points in a row (17-10), Sirvydis once again was accurate from a distance and ended the quarter with a lefty drive, 22-14.

 Wright continued to dominate under the basket, Nigel Williams-Goss added 4 points, Mantas Rubstavicius scored from mid-range, and Sylvain Francisco doubled the lead, 32-16. Brazdeikis made his free throws, Edgaras Ulanovas and Brazdeikis scored two-pointers from close range, and Azuolas Tubelis closed the quarter with a three-pointer, 41-25.

Ulanovas started the third quarter with a 2+1, Birutis, Sirvydis, and Sleva added two points each, 50-29. Brazdeikis and Wright scored two points each, and Williams-Goss added four, 58-42. At the end of the quarter, Tubelis and Wright scored, but the hosts closed the gap slightly, 62-50.

At the start of the fourth quarter, Tubelis scored 9 points, and Rubstavicius added a three-pointer, 74-53.  Wright dunked it, Ulanovas scored a two-pointer, and Wright made free throws, 80-60. Brazdeikis, Williams-Goss, and Birutis scored points to secure the victory (87-70), and the final score was 87-78.

Wright was the leading scorer with 18 points. Tubelis added 14 points, Williams-Goss had 11 points.
