Zalgiris remains perfect with win against Nevezis-Optibet 3

Zalgiris Kaunas (6-0) secured another victory in the Betsafe-LKL Championship. Kazys Maksvytis’ team had no major struggles against Nevezis-Optibet Kedainiai (2-4), taking the 93-75 win in Zalgirio Arena.

The pace of the game was set to high immediately, as the two sides traded baskets like heavyweight with the green-and-whites going ahead 28-22 after the opening ten minutes.

The second quarter did not provide as much high-octane basketball, as Zalgiris only managed seven points in the first seven minutes. Nevertheless, led by Tyler Cavanaugh and Motiejus Krivas, Zalgiris closed out the quarter strong and entered halftime up by 11, 48-37.

The game was practically put to bed after the break, as the hosts surged ahead by eighteen, propelled by Tomas Dimsa’s early three-pointers, and Zalgiris coasted to the finish line.

Tyler Cavanaugh had 17 points for Zalgiris, as 17-year-old Motiejus Krivas chipped in with 15 points and 5 boards. Ignas Brazdeikis added 13, while Tomas Dimsa had 11. Rolands Smits and Karolis Lukosiunas ended the game with 8 apiece, with the latter also contributing 6 assists.
