Hayes: “Our main focus is defense” 0

Zalgiris Kaunas, start their trip to Villeurbanne, where they play the 7th round EuroLeague game against hosts ASVEL on Thursday night.

Ahead of the upcoming trip to the rivals’ territory, Zalgiris TV spoke to Kevarrius Hayes, as he shared his thoughts on the upcoming game.

“The win last week showed what level we can be at, but on the other hand, that game is in the past. We were in a difficult situation and it’s great that we managed to get the win,” explained the big man.

Hayes made his EuroLeague debut back in the 2020-2021 season, representing ASVEL. The American shared his impressions ahead of the upcoming trip and talked about how Zalgiris’ game is improving.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing some familiar faces. I hope we can get a win. Our game is improving, we are learning more and more new things about each other. The coach brings new ideas into the game, he sees how they fit into our team, so we are trying to find out how everything works. We are learning the rhythm of the game and getting better as a team.”

Ahead of an important EuroLeague clash in France, Zalgiris is once again focusing on defense in training this season, which is where the green-and-whites are laying the foundations for this season’s victories.

“Our main focus is defense, that’s always the case. Sometimes we get stuck on offense, but we can always catch up, so we are focused on our defense, on our defensive tasks,” Hayes said.
